"Ah! My lord, finally!...Made ya look!"
— Cui tricking Vegeta in "The Rebellion Against Frieza! Vegeta's Burning Ambition!"

Ah! Lord Frieza! (あっ!フリーザ様! Ah! Furīza-sama!) is a feint and Continuous Energy Bullet used by Cui.

Overview[]

With his back against the wall, Cui looks behind his opponents and pretends to address "Lord Frieza!", distracting the opponent by making them check behind themselves and giving Cui the opportunity to barrage them with reddish-orange energy waves. This technique works well against those who are familiar with Frieza's fearsome reputation (for those unfamiliar with Frieza, they are tricked into thinking someone allied with their opponent is behind them).

Usage[]

AhLordFrieza

Cui shouts "Lord Frieza!"

Cui attempts to destroy Vegeta with this attack during their battle on Namek. Cui becomes shocked at Vegeta's power level to be 24,000 and offers to make an alliance to defeat Frieza together, to which Vegeta refuses. Having run out of options, Cui attacks Vegeta with "Ah! Lord Frieza!", distracting Vegeta by making him believe Frieza is right behind him. Cui then launches his energy wave barrage, creating a huge explosion. Cui believes he has killed Vegeta, but the Saiyan prince appears to the right of Cui unfazed and reveals his speed has increased with his power. Cui tries to escape, but Vegeta flies after him and attacks him with Dirty Fireworks, blasting the terrified Cui to smithereens in the air.

The barrage of energy blasts and strong red ball parts of this technique is named Flash Beam in the Dragon Ball Z: Goku Gekitōden. The whole technique was named "Ah! Lord Frieza!" in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, where it is Cui's Ultimate Blast. This attack also appears as Cui's ultimate attack in Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2, Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team, and Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi. It is named Dastard Impact (ダスタードインパクト) in Dragon Ball Heroes and Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle, however, in the latter game, it appears as a Full Power Energy Barrage Wave instead. Due to gameplay mechanics, the attack can ironically be used against Frieza himself.

In Dragon Ball Fusions, it appears under the name Ah, Lord Frieza! and is a Special Move used by several characters including Dodoria, Zarbon, Caluppa, Fargo, and Moolin. Additionally Dodoria & Zarbon's EX-Fusion Dodobon can inherit it from them. Tekka can access it through EX-Fusion with any unfused user. Unlike other depictions, the Energy Barrage portion of the attack is omitted and only the Ah, Lord Frieza feint is used. It cancels action of a single opponent. There is also a stronger variation called Ah, Lord Beerus! which cancels action for all opponents around the user.

Trivia[]

  • Ironically, the feint works on Frieza himself in various video games primarily due to game mechanics.
    • However, in games employ time travel like Dragon Ball Fusions, it makes sense due to the nature of the Timespace Rift allowing multiple incarnations of Frieza to be present.
    • Additionally it should also be noted that it is common for characters familiar with Frieza in both the main series and other media to mistake other members of the Frieza Race (such as Frost) as Frieza, with Frieza himself possibly being aware that his reputation can lead people to mistake others like him for Frieza himself (individuals whom Frieza would be at least weary of given how ruthless members of his family and/or race can be, thus giving an in-universe explanation for why said feint might still work on him).
  • In Dragon Ball Fusions, the feint is employed by Cui's fellow Frieza Force members Caluppa, Fargo, Dodoria, Zarbon, and their EX-Fusion Dodobon. However, it is not uncommon for Frieza Force members to exploit of Frieza's fearsome reputation to demoralize and/or strike fear into their enemies.
