Arlians were an insectoid species from planet Arlia. The planet and the race only appear in the filler episode "Terror on Arlia", not in the original manga. However a member of the race does appear in the Resurrection ‘F’ manga adaptation.

Overview[]

Arlians

Arlians in Prison

All of Moai's guards can shoot laser beams from their mouths, and were swordsmen. They are also seen riding giant Worms. Ironically, the Saiyans were celebrated as heroes to the Arlians after killing their evil dictator, King Moai, unintentionally freeing the oppressed before they decided that the planet was in too poor of a condition to bring in any good profit and vaporizing it.

They became almost extinct when Nappa and Vegeta destroyed their planet on their way to Earth.

An Arlian amongst Frieza's army

An Arlian appears amongst Frieza's army of 1,000 soldiers in the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F’ (manga). It could be due to their race being revived due to the wish to revive all of Frieza & his minions' victims, and at some point, later they might have gotten conquered by the Frieza Force which exploit their manpower. Alternatively, Arlia was not destroyed by Vegeta in the manga's continuity as the planet's destruction by Vegeta in the anime was filler and presumably Arlia was conquered at some point by the Frieza Force.

Power[]

Video games

In Dragon Ball Z: The Anime Adventure Game, Arlians have power levels from 100 to 250.

Trivia[]

  • Arlians seem to bear a striking resemblance to the medical droid in the classic Star Wars movies' ending of Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, which repairs Luke Skywalker's hand after it is cut off by Darth Vader. This is possibly due to Akira Toriyama being a fan of the classic and ongoing modern day American franchise, Star Wars, and in certain ways, Cell, in his Imperfect form, most notably their insectoid appearance and mouth parts.
