Awaken, Legendary Warrior! Goku the Super Saiyan! (Awaken Warrior of Legend...Super Saiyan, Son Goku) is the forty-seventh episode of Dragon Ball Z Kai. The episode first aired on March 7, 2010. Its American air date was November 27, 2010. Its Dragon Ball Z counterparts are "Power of the Spirit" and "Transformed at Last".
Goku hurls his Large Spirit Bomb at Frieza; however, the tyrant is able to catch it, but not able to stop it from exploding on him. The Z Fighters celebrate an apparent victory, and make plans to head back to Earth. However, Frieza appears, and though badly injured from the Spirit Bomb, is still powerful enough to take them all out. Frieza fires a Death Beam at Goku, but Piccolo takes the beam to his chest, and is knocked unconscious. Frieza then sets his eyes on Krillin, moving him up into the air, and making his body explode from the inside, killing him. Angered by the loss of his friends, Goku transforms into the legendary Super Saiyan, in which his eyes turn green, his hair stands like Vegeta's, and it turns gold. With his power greatly enhanced, Goku orders Gohan to take the injured Piccolo back to his spaceship, find Bulma, and leave Namek.
- This was the highest rated episode of Dragon Ball Kai, pulling in a rating share of 12.3%. The entire series averaged a 9.4% rating share.
- In the Nicktoons and Toonzai broadcasts of the episode, Goku calls Frieza a "ruthless, heartless monster" after the latter murdered Krillin, whereas in the uncut English dub (found only on the DVD and Blu-ray home video releases), he calls him a "ruthless, heartless bastard". The former was done for Nicktoons and Toonzai to keep the TV-Y7-FV rating.
- In the Toonzai version, the part where Frieza explodes Krillin is cut out, most likely due to Censorship.
