This article is about the Bardock that appears in Dragon Ball Heroes from another dimension. For other versions of Bardock, see Bardock (disambiguation).

Xeno Bardock (バーダック:ゼノ Bādakku: Zeno) is an incarnation of Bardock from a world separate from the main timeline. Much like the main Bardock, he was brainwashed by the Dark Empire, temporarily becoming the Masked Saiyan. Afterwards, he momentarily became a Time Patroller before forsaking his identity to become the mysterious Warrior in Black (こくせん Kokui no Senshi, lit. "Warrior in Black Clothes"),[3] serving alongside other Warriors in Black under former Supreme Kai of Time Aeos.

During the Dark Demon Realm Saga, he serves as an antagonist as Masked Saiyan, later becoming a supporting protagonist for several sagas, before temporarily returning to his antagonistic role during the Supreme Kai of Time Saga.

Appearance[]

WiB

Xeno Bardock disguised as a Warrior in Black

Xeno Bardock's original outfit matched that of the main timeline Bardock, consisting of a bloodstained bandana (presumably originally belonging to his version of Tora), Battle Armor, and a Scouter (as shown during the Super Bardock Saga). Upon being integrated into the Dark Empire's ranks as Masked Saiyan, Xeno Bardock temporarily wore a Mask and Time Breaker Battle Armor. After being freed by Xeno Trunks, Xeno Bardock changed outfits to a dark green jumpsuit underneath black Battle Armor with lime green side panels, but retained his red headband, wristbands and shin guards.

When acting as the Warrior in Black[4] (こくせん Kokui no Senshi, lit. "Warrior in Black Clothes")[5], Xeno Bardock wears brown pants, a gray belt, and black boots tipped with gray at the front and hell, as well as a black undershirt and a brown masked shirt above it to hide his mouth and scars. Again, he retains his headband, wristbands and shin guards underneath. To completely conceal his identity, he wears a hooded black cloak, covering his hair, which would otherwise be noticeable. Xeno Bardock would end up discarding his cloak upon preparing to fight Jiren and Goku.

Personality[]

Xeno Bardock mostly matches the main timeline Bardock in terms of personality, retaining the same lone-wolf traits, Saiyan pride, and battle-eager attitude. Despite joining Chronoa's Time Patrol, he has yet to properly interact with any of his alternate family members (though he was a loving husband to his version of Gine). However, Xeno Bardock appears to have a level of respect for Xeno Trunks, who both saved him from his initial brainwashing and shares his animosity with the Frieza and his wicked bloodline. His experiences with being manipulated and brainwashed by both the Frieza Force and the Dark Empire put him at odds with Xeno King Vegeta, who he initially views as pathetic due to the king's deliberate choice to become the Dark-Masked King. Later, however, he is able to reach Xeno King Vegeta by appealing to his Saiyan pride, allowing the two warriors to form a truce and form a rivalry not too dissimilar to the one between their sons Goku and Vegeta, respectively.

Despite his hardened personality, Xeno Bardock still seeks to save the many timelines that concern the Time Patrol, akin to his main timeline counterpart's own desire to preserve. This puts him at odds with Aeos, but he eventually joins her ranks and assumes a silent, sinister disposition, attempting to set aside his own past in order to see her wishes fulfilled. However, his true personality still mirrors much of his main counterparts, as he continues to wear Tora's headband despite wanting to abandon his past, as well as retaining affection for his son Goku, as he actively fought to stop Crimson's plan and fought alongside Goku during the events in the Pseudo Universe, something Aeos herself seemed to allow. In addition, upon meeting with and fighting Goku, he was amazed at how far his son had grown and was satisfied with their battle despite losing, telling him to move forward and survive.

Biography[]

Background[]

Not much is known about this incarnation of Bardock other than he comes from another dimension. The Super Bardock Saga in Dragon Ball Heroes suggests that he experienced the events of The Father of Goku like his counterpart but was diverted by the Time Breakers after being sent to the past by Frieza's Supernova. Like Bardock in Dragon Ball Online, he is converted into a Time Breaker and becomes the Masked Saiyan.

After Xeno Trunks and the Supreme Kai of Time, Xeno Bardock looks at the moon. He is later recruited by Chronoa to join the Time Patrol.

Super Saiyan 3 Xeno Bardock

When the Dark-Masked King is sent to retrieve Xeno Paragus, Xeno Bardock encounters them both. Xeno Paragus is beaten down by Xeno King Vegeta until Xeno Bardock intervenes. Finding that he is outmatched, Xeno Bardock places his broken Time Breaker mask back on for more power, overcomes the corruptive pull of the mask and transforms into Super Saiyan 3 - which gives him enough power to battle Xeno King Vegeta head-on.

In the game, Xeno Bardock appears and says he has business with Xeno King Vegeta, allowing Xeno Trunks to continue pursuing Mechikabura. During their fight, Dark Masked King removes his red cloak and the Time Breaker mask, while Xeno Bardock puts his own Time Breaker mask and transforms into Super Saiyan 3. Their fight is interrupted by Xeno Paragus, who attacks Xeno King Vegeta from behind but is shortly dispatched by a blast from the dark tyrant, granting Xeno Bardock time to charge up a blast that collides with one of Xeno King Vegeta's, engulfing them both in the resulting explosion.

Dark King Mechikabura Saga[]

Main article: Dark King Mechikabura Saga In the game, Xeno Bardock has a rematch with Xeno King Vegeta in the Demon Realm, during which he transforms into Super Saiyan 4. Bardock calls a cease-fire, appealing to Xeno King Vegeta's Saiyan pride to turn him against Mechikabura.

Xeno Bardock and Xeno King Vegeta scale Mechikabura's Tower, reaching far enough that they are unaffected by the destruction of the rest of the Demon Realm. They confront the remaining loyal Demon Gods Salsa and Shroom. Even after the demons are forced by Mechikabura to take on their Dark Forms, Xeno Bardock and Xeno King Vegeta working together prove more than a match for the pair. The battle is joined by the mindless Dark Broly, Salsa and Shroom both perish. Despite their success, Xeno King Vegeta is fatally injured by Dark Broly, leaving Xeno Bardock to confront the son of Xeno Paragus alone. Fortunately, Xeno Bardock stumbles upon Xeno Trunks' discarded Key Sword which he uses to defeat Dark Broly but is left exhausted by the battle. However, using the last of his strength, he is able to use the sword to clear the darkness surrounding the Time Patrol and free them from Mechikabura's void.

Interlude[]

"Alright, But... I have one condition; Let me battle those who are the survivors of the "True History"."
— Xeno Bardock's condition to Aeos prior to becoming the Warrior in Black.

Xeno Bardock was approached by Aeos, who told him about the negative effect of the existence of multiple timelines and promised that he, a singularity who escaped from the central axis of history, would be able to help them out. Xeno Bardock expressed worry about not being able to save all of the timelines, but Aeos apologized, saying it was a difficult task and there were just too many of them, pleading for him to help. Eventually, Xeno Bardock agreed to abandon his past and become her first Warrior in Black, on the condition that he would be allowed to test survivors of the "true history". He then went on to train and acquired astonishing strength.[3] Afterwards, he made a request to Aeos to be allowed to assist Goku in the Pseudo Universe to stop the Crimson-Masked Saiyan's plot.

New Space-Time War Saga[]

Main article: New Space-Time War Saga Xeno Bardock appears as the Warrior in Black for the first time in the Pseudo Universe. In the anime, he is shown standing atop a building, overlooking the streets with a red glint in his eye, and observing Goku as he runs from the Frieza Force.

During the fight between Goku and Hearts, the Dark Dragon Ball-infused Golden Frieza and Golden Meta-Cooler, and Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, the Warrior in Black interrupts to swiftly defeat the Wicked Bloodline and acquire their Dark Dragon Balls, taunting Broly into facing him alone soon after and angering Crimson.

During another attack on humanity by the Crimson-Masked Saiyan, the Warrior in Black confronts him in battle, surprising Goku Black by pulling back his hood to reveal his Goku-like Super Saiyan appearance. Using Super Saiyan (with an aura resembling that of Super Saiyan 2), he is able to fight on-par with the Crimson-Masked Saiyan when he uses Super Saiyan Rosé 2, though the Crimson-Masked Saiyan still holds a slight advantage. However, he is eventually beaten when Crimson uses Super Saiyan Rosé 3. The Crimson-Masked Saiyan attempts to finish off the Warrior in Black with a finger beam, but he is saved by the untimely arrival of Ultra Instinct Goku and Controlled Berserk Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta.

When Goku and Vegeta battle against the Crimson-Masked Saiyan, the Warrior in Black gathers the remaining Dragon Balls in the Pseudo Universe. After the defeat of the Crimson-Masked Saiyan, the Warrior in Black summons the Eternal Dragon to transport himself and his allies out of the Pseudo Universe.

In the manga, the Warrior is instead saved by Gogeta, who deduces that he is not "Kakarot" based off of his ki signature. When Gogeta fights Crimson, the Warrior is able to figure out how Crimson is siphoning energy form the Pseudo Universe to gain a form of immortality. After Gogeta defuses, the Warrior steps in one final time to aid Goku in a joint blast that wipes Crimson out for good, before disappearing into thin air.

Later, having gathered the rest of the Dark Dragon Balls, the Warrior in Black fixes the damage dealt to the space-time continuum by asking Dark Shenron to grant three wishes - fix the damage dealt to the real universe caused by the Pseudo Universe, dispel the Pseudo Universe itself, and draw out the power of he and his fellow Warriors to their absolute limit. After Dark Shenron grants the wishes, Aeos appears in a dark portal to communicate him. The Warrior apologizes for selfishly using the wishes, but Aeos remarks that she did not have a personal use for them anyway.

In the anime, the Warrior in Black briefly appears in the Time Nest alongside with his fellow Warriors in Black to restrain Chronoa from taking action against their leader, Aeos.

Later on, as the Super Space-Time Tournament begins, the Warrior in Black comments on it with telling Aeos that she's making good use of throwing in warriors from various timelines in the tournament with Aeos later replying that the timelines increased too much.

During Round 2 of the Tournament, the Warrior in Black is sent to a stylized version of Planet Vegeta. He removes his cloak and transforms into a Super Saiyan 3 as he faces off against Goku and Jiren. In the anime, Goku decides to fight him alone and displays Ultra Instinct Sign, much to Bardock's amazement, though the soldier refuses to disclose his identity. The two begin fighting, which eventually leaves Bardock at a disadvantage, though he begins charging his full power into a Final Spirit Cannon in an attempt to turn the tables. Goku responds with his Divine Kamehameha and immediately begins overpowering Bardock's attack, though Bardock expresses satisfaction with his loss, excited by the prospect of growing even stronger after witnessing Goku's own growth. Engulfed in the energy blast, he reverts to base form and falls to the ground, exchanging a smirk with his son.

WiBvsJiren manga

The Warrior in Black and Jiren powering up against each other

In the manga, Jiren decides to confront the Warrior in Black on his own instead of Goku. The Warrior in Black battled against Jiren intensively, However, his blows ended up either being tanked or dodged by Jiren, until a powerful strike was landed into the Warrior's chest that sent him flying towards a nearby cliff. The Warrior in Black then powers up into a Super Saiyan, firing a blast at Jiren in response to his previous attack. The battle continued, but all of the Warrior's attacks proved futile against Jiren, causing the Warrior to rip off his cloak to empower himself further, landing in several assaults towards the Pride Trooper, this time with a better chance, until landing in a powerful attack that fazed Jiren momentarily, but the Pride Trooper then retaliates with a punch of his own, damaging the Warrior and placed the area in heavy smoke and dust.

The Warrior in Black then recalls his request towards Dark Shenron, transforming into his drastically empowered Super Saiyan 3 state. In respondence, Jiren unleashes reserves of his power to keep up with the Warrior's rising power. With the two exchanging fists far more destructively compared to earlier, however, this fight was soon interrupted by the arrival of Goku, who requests to Jiren to battle against the Warrior in Black on his own.

Ultra Instinct Sign Goku and Super Saiyan 3 Warrior in Black clash

The two Saiyans then begin to fight, Goku taking on his own Super Saiyan 3 form, although he is easily overpowered. Noting how there is a huge gap in power despite using the same form as the Warrior in Black, Goku powers up to Super Saiyan God before transforming even further into Super Saiyan Blue. The battle continues, now much closer than before, although the Warrior in Black is still mostly unfazed, simply asking Goku if that was all he's got. The Warrior in Black than fires a barrage of crackling, lightning-like energy blasts at Goku, who in the midst of the titanic explosion, ascends to Ultra Instinct Sign. The Warrior in Black proceeds to fire a second barrage of blasts at Goku, though the Saiyan easily dodges each one before closing the distance, evading most of the Warrior in Black's attacks and countering with his own. After an even clash, both Saiyans jump back, Goku charging a full power Kamehameha while the Warrior in Black prepares a Final Spirit Cannon. The two blasts collide, each side struggling for dominance. As both warriors struggle, the Warrior in Black affirms that it's time for both of them to surpass their limits.

Goku then proceeds to ascend even further into Perfected Ultra Instinct, granting his Kamehameha even more power, allowing his attack to overwhelm the Warrior in Black's. As the blast consumes him, the Warrior in Black briefly has a flashback of being told about parallel histories by Aeos. As he returns to the present, the Warrior in Black returns to his base form, smiling and telling Goku that he has passed. Before falling into unconsciousness, the Warrior in Black refers to Goku as "Kakarot", telling him to live and survive, leaving Goku confused as to how the man knows his Saiyan name.

The Space-Time family Kamehameha

In the anime, the Warrior re-appears during Goku and the Future Warrior in Black's battle with Demigra and their ensuing beam struggle, aiding the pair using a Kamehameha of his own whilst in his Super Saiyan 3 form. After encouraging the others to use everything they have, the Warrior transforms into his Super Saiyan 4 state to grant himself a much needed power boost. With their true strength on full display, their combined energy wave manifests into a 3 Generations Kamehameha that overwhelms and kills Demigra.

Returning to the selection realm, Xeno Bardock and the other Warriors in Black prepare to take off with Aeos to tour the other Space-Times. Before heading off, he expresses with a smile on his face that next time he will defeat Kakarot.

World Mission[]

Main article: Super Dragon Ball Heroes: World Mission In the Super Bardock Saga, Xeno Bardock is revealed to have been the leader of Team Bardock and ended up in the past after the destruction of Planet Vegeta by Xeno Frieza, captured by the Dark Empire and turned into the Masked Saiyan.

As the Masked Saiyan, he confronts the Time Patrol (represented by the player and their deck) alongside the Black-Masked Saiyan, Dark Towa, Time Breaker Dabura, Super Mira, Haru Haru, and Shun Shun. He is defeated by the Time Patrol who manage to free him from the Time Breaker Mind Control. After being reunited with his wife Gine, he is apparently recruited into the Time Patrol by Chronoa to join them in combating the Dark Empire.

Power[]

Manga and Anime

As the Masked Saiyan, Xeno Bardock is able to fight on par with Super Saiyan Xeno Trunks, and when teamed up with him is able to overpower Super Mira.

By gaining the full power of the mask, Xeno Bardock is powerful enough to transform into Super Saiyan 3, with enough power to match Xeno King Vegeta.

As the Warrior in Black, Bardock is incredibly powerful, able to defeat both Golden Frieza and Golden Meta-Cooler, each infused with a Dark Dragon Ball, without any trouble as well as take on Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, all while remaining unreadable by Hearts.

Against the Crimson-Masked Saiyan, he fought on-par with him while both were in their base forms. As a Super Saiyan, he was able to keep up against the foe's Super Saiyan Rosé 2 for some time. However, once Crimson ascended to Super Saiyan Rosé 3, the Warrior in Black was completely outclassed and was left at the mercy of his foe.

Following this, the Warrior in Black went on to have his potential unlocked by Dark Shenron.[6] In the manga, he is shown to be no match for Jiren at all, unable to even harm him. In the anime, and as a Super Saiyan 3, the Warrior in Black forces Goku to use Ultra Instinct Sign who prevails in their battle though with a struggle.

Game

During the God Mission PV released for Dragon Ball Heroes prior to God Mission 1, Xeno Bardock as the Masked Saiyan is shown able to easily dodge Super Saiyan 4 Goku's attacks and shrugs off a combined blow from Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta, Piccolo, Xeno Trunks and Beat. A God Bomb fired by Beat with energy from Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta, Piccolo and Xeno Trunks overpower his energy wave and damages his mask, though he is able to recover from the attack.

Xeno Bardock is unable to defeat Xeno King Vegeta, even after strengthening his Super Saiyan 3 form using the power of his broken mask. In a later rematch with Xeno King Vegeta, Bardock manages to achieve Super Saiyan 4, but is still unable to decisively defeat King Vegeta.

Super Saiyan 4 Xeno Bardock was only able to defeat Dark Broly with use of the Key Sword.

The Warrior in Black is incredibly powerful, able to defeat the Dark Dragon Ball-infused Golden Frieza and Golden Meta-Cooler without any trouble as well as take on Legendary Super Saiyan Broly, all while remaining unreadable by Hearts.

As a Super Saiyan, he is able to keep up with the Super Saiyan Rosé 2 Crimson-Masked Saiyan while also protecting the city from his attacks. Though he is outmatched when Crimson ascends to Super Saiyan Rosé 3, he is able to hold him off long enough for Goku and Vegeta to arrive.

When facing off against Goku and Jiren, upon revealing his Super Saiyan 3 power, it quickly prompted Goku to transforms into Ultra Instinct Sign before initiating combat.

As a Saiyan who still has his tail, Xeno Bardock is able to transform into a Great Ape when absorbing enough blutz waves. It is unknown if he is able to control himself in this form as few Saiyans can. Presumably, his level of control is similar to his counterpart Bardock who has rudimentary control over the form allowing him to focus on the enemy without attacking his allies.

During his Rebellion Fang technique, the image of a Great Ape appears to represent his Saiyan potential). In Dragon Ball Heroes it is just a head but in Dokkan Battle, an image of Great Ape Xeno Bardock's Great Ape form (based off his counterpart's Great Ape form) appears.

Xeno Bardock appears in his Great Ape form as the Masked Saiyan while under Towa's mind control.

Normally his Mask prevents the Great Ape transformation as it shields his eyes from Blutz Waves (though like Sunglasses the mask still allows him to see) as they are absorbed primarily through the eyes, though only when it is fully intact as the Mask's Blutz Wave Shielding loses its effectiveness if the mask is broken. Once broken he can transform, though the green part of the mask featuring the Time Breaker Infinity Symbol becomes embedded into his forehead keeping him under the effects of mind control similar to how Time Breaker Bardock controlled Great Ape Gohan in Dragon Ball Online.

After breaking free from Towa's control, he keeps his broken mask and uses it when turning into Super Saiyan 3 during his fight with Xeno King Vegeta.

Trivia[]

  • Warrior in Black's fight with the Crimson-Masked Saiyan in the anime is similar to that of Vegeta and Goku Black in the Dragon Ball Super manga:
    • The fight took place in a city.
    • Both Crimson and Vegeta used versions of Super Saiyan 2 to fight against their respective base form opponents.
    • Warrior in Black used the Super Saiyan form with a Super Saiyan 2-like aura, like Goku Black.
    • Warrior in Black almost was outclassed by Crimson, similar to how Super Saiyan Black was outclassed by Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta.
    • Both the Crimson-Masked Saiyan and Vegeta used the higher-level transformations while their enemy was unable to use those transformations, nearly killing their foes.
  • The Warrior in Black is the seventh Saiyan to strangely emit bio-electric lightning in his regular Super Saiyan transformation.
