The mighty djinn Boo has awakened from his aeons-old slumber! As Boo's reign of terror begins, even the mad wizard Bobbidi and his allies question whether such an uncontrollable being should have been set free. With all the universe's greatest champions dead, petrified, or beaten into unconsciousness, only one hero remains to put up a fight…Vegeta. Will he win...or will Boo be free to turn the entire population of the world into sweets and gobble them up?[1]

Son Goku was Earth's greatest hero, and the Dragon Balls—which can grant any wish—were Earth's greatest treasure. After many adventures, Goku finally died saving the world from the monstrous Cell, but he left behind two sons, Gohan and Goten. When a great martial arts tournament was announced, Goku's old friends gathered to participate…and even Goku came from heaven to join in on the action! But before the tournament was interrupted by Bobbidi the Warlock, who manipulated Goku into battling Vegeta so he can channel the unleashed combat energy to awaken the terrible Boo the Djinn. Now, in the midst of Goku and Vegeta's lon-awaited rematch, the Djinn begins to stir…!![1]
Volume introduction by Akira Toriyama[]
"Time flies, and suddenly I find I've been working on Dragon Ball for a full decade. Considering I have virtually no self-discipline, it's really amazing. Good job, me. I'm always a slacker when it comes to work, though not when it comes to hobbies. I feel like I accidentally did something impressive without realizing what I was doing. Now I have to make up for these 10 years of work. I falling behind on my sitting around doing nothing! I really don't think I'm cut out for these weekly serials…"[1]
