Farewell, Piccolo! Goku's Furious Counterattack! (ピッコロが流した涙…孫悟空怒りの大反撃！ Pikkoro ga Nagashi ta Namida... Son Gokū Ikari no Dai Hangeki!) is the twelfth overall episode in the Dragon Ball Z Kai series. The episode first aired on June 21, 2009. Its original American air date was June 7, 2010. Its Dragon Ball Z counterparts are "Goku's Arrival" and "Lesson Number One".
Summary
Goku battles the Saiyan Nappa
Piccolo dies from Nappa's Bomber DX, resulting in Kami's death and the destruction of the Earth's Dragon Balls. However, Goku finally arrives at the battlefield just in time to save Gohan and Krillin. After healing the two with a Senzu Bean from Korin, Goku engages Nappa in battle. Despite the mighty Nappa's efforts, it quickly becomes clear that he is no match for Goku's new level of power. Realizing this, Vegeta finally decides to step into the fight.
Trivia
- This episode contains the segment which originated the popular "It's Over 9000!" internet meme, which is a translation mistake since in the original version, the dialogue is "Over 8000", not "Over 9000". However, in the edited TV version, the dialogue stays as "Over 9000" though in the DVD version, it was changed to the proper translation.
