"People of Earth Unite" (超ちょう感かん激げき!! できたぜみんなの元げん気き玉だま, Chō-Kangeki!! Dekita ze Min'na no Genki-Dama, lit. "Ultra Impressive!! The Genki Dama From Everyone is Finished") is the tenth episode of the Kid Buu Saga and the two hundred eighty-fifth overall episode in the original dubbed and the uncut Dragon Ball Z series. This episode first aired in Japan on November 29, 1995. Its original American airdate was March 27, 2003.

Summary

Vegeta starting to lose his temper at the people of Earth for not raising their hands for energy to power the Spirit Bomb

Last time, the citizens of Earth refused to put their hands up to give energy to Goku. The others on New Namek told Vegeta to ask politely because the Spirit Bomb has only the energy of their friends. Vegeta tries asking them again. Back on Earth a young man raises his hand and his energy is given off. Then a bystander claims it is a demon's trick. Vegeta overhears people say that he was on Babidi's side, which angers him.

The two Buus are still fighting and the Good Majin Buu is much weaker. He gets punched to the floor, then Kid Buu makes an Energy Sphere ball to pin Good Buu on the floor. Mr. Satan thinks it is over and that they are doomed. Mr. Satan rushes to save Good Buu, and throws a stone at Kid Buu. As Kid Buu turned, he saw Goku with the Spirit Bomb and rushes towards him. Vegeta, trying to assist Goku, said he will give him some time to make the Spirit Bomb, but he gets beaten fast, frustrating Goku.

All of the people who remember Goku's voice (mostly minor characters from Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z) start to give their power to him. Other people recognize his voice and starts giving power to Goku's Spirit Bomb. Android 17 also makes an appearance during the episode. Back on the Kai Planet, Vegeta is getting badly beaten. He desperately tries to give Goku some time to make the Spirit Bomb. Vegeta fights until he was weakened. Kid Buu decided to finish him once and for all so he could easily deal with Goku.

On Earth Piccolo assigns everyone to go to every city and tell the people to share their energy. They all try but the people do not care. But when Piccolo goes near the city they all run away. Vegeta is using all his energy to beat Kid Buu, but Kid Buu is too strong. Mr. Satan soon gets angered and he tells everyone to raise their hands, making people think he is the one fighting Buu, and everyone does so. After that, Goku was capable of gathering a strong Spirit Bomb while Vegeta distracted Kid Buu. Goku then makes the Spirit Bomb and prepares to fire it.

Differences from the manga

• The anime shows a few extra characters giving their energy to the Spirit Bomb after Goku speaks to them, such as Korin, Yajirobe, Tien Shinhan, Chiaotzu, and Launch.
• Gohan, Piccolo, Goten and Trunks splitting up and attempting to encourage people to trust in Goku's words is exclusive to the anime.
• The anime shows extra characters giving their energy to the Spirit Bomb after Mr. Satan speaks to them, such as Spike the Devil Man, Bandages the Mummy, Giran, Nam, and King Furry.

Trivia

• Unlike the other Z Fighters who are seen giving their energy for the Spirit Bomb after hearing Vegeta's plea, Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu are not seen giving their energy until they hear Goku's voice. This is probably due to the fact that Tien never really forgave Vegeta for what happened in the Vegeta Saga (and was unaware that Vegeta was just a pawn of Frieza), which was also made clear previously in the episode, "Saiyans Emerge", during the Perfect Cell Saga.

Launch

• In Android 17's cameo appearance while Goku is pleading for The Earth's energy, he says, "It's been a long time since I've heard that voice.", despite the fact that he and Goku never met during the Androids Saga and they have never had a conversation. However, Android 17 was programmed explicitly to kill Goku, and thus may have sound clips of Goku in his memory put there by Dr. Gero.
  • 17's appearance was not included in the Ocean Group dub or the Toonami airing of the Funimation dub, most likely due to the scene having guns.
• Launch, who last appeared in the Vegeta Saga, is seen again during this episode, driving a food truck labeled “Lunch Express” (a pun on her name). This brief cameo is cut out in the Canadian version for unknown reasons.
• Good Launch's one line in the Funimation dub is provided by Kara Edwards, Goten and Videl's actress, instead of her regular actress Meredith McCoy. The remastered DVD set credits mistakenly attribute the voice to Leah Clark, who didn't start in voice work until 2006 (three years after this episode aired). Edwards' voice is, in fact, retained from the original version.
  • The original Japanese version has Tomiko Suzuki provide Launch’s utterance while giving her energy, as the single "line" wouldn’t have warranted the cost of bringing back Mami Koyama to record. Likewise, as this was Launch’s only scene retained in Dragon Ball Z Kai, Mayumi Tanaka (Krillin and Yajirobe) filled in for that version.
• For the original version, Takeshi Kusao (Trunks) replaces Masaaki Ohkura as Upa whilst Kōzō Shioya (Majin Buu) fills in as Bora for Banjō Ginga.
• Nam, Giran, Bandages the Mummy, Spike the Devil Man and King Furry did not give up energy when Goku asked them (as they are seen giving up energy after Mr. Satan told them). This is probably because these characters (except King Furry) have not heard Goku since he was a kid, although some of Goku's other friends recognize his voice. Launch's line "That guy sounded cool!" implies that she did not recognize Goku's voice either despite actually meeting him in the Piccolo Jr. Saga, though that was only in the Funimation dub. In the case of King Furry he was probably waiting that all his subjects were convinced to give their energy and then join them.
• Spike and Giran have their utterances provided by Christopher Sabat and John Burgmeier respectively instead of their original performers Justin Cook and Andrew Chandler.
• Dale Wilson provides King Furry's voice in the Westwood/Ocean dub here instead of his voice from the Cell Games Saga Richard Newman.
• Two men are seen in a snowy area, and one gives up energy and "feels like (he) just ran a mile". In the Funimation dub, they use the words "hoser" and "eh". These words and the snow are common Canadian stereotypes. In the Ocean dub (which was released in Canada), the two men do not use the words "hoser" and "eh".
• When Yajirobe and Korin give energy to the Spirit Bomb, in the original Japanese version, only the former had dialogue.
• When Piccolo is thinking about Mr. Satan after the latter convinced Earth to give energy to Goku's Super Spirit Bomb, he laughs in a voice and manner similar to Mr. Satan's.
• As people are giving their energy to the Spirit Bomb, the mountain roadside where Vegeta and the other Z Fighters fought Androids 17 and 18 can be seen.
