To first explain things, there are a number of mediawiki statuses which can be set to, or define a user: Other than that you could also say that some communities have a bit of a more social class of user which means they have the permissions of a normal user, but the community lets them do things that they normaly wouldn't let a user do.

  • Anon (A user with no logged in useraccount (An IP Address))
  • Registered User (Autoconfirmed; A user who has a useraccount (Autoconfirmed isn't set until 4 days after a user has registered, which is why Semi-protection stops new users from editing just like anons. But lets older users edit a page)
  • Rollback (Allows a user to use the Rollback tool which was previously only avalable to Sysops)
  • Bot (Hides a user's edits from the Recent Changes unless they click the show bots link; Very usefull for automated tasks which make a large number of edits)
  • Sysop (Most commonly used to identify that someone is an administrator; Allows a user to delete/undelete pages, protect/semi-protect/unprotect pages, use the rollback function, block users, edit MediaWiki system messages and change the site style.)
  • Bureaucrat (Most commonly used to identify funders and admins who are a little higher on the chain; Allows a user to grant/revoke the Rollback permission on another user, Allows a user to grant the Sysop permission to another user, and also to give them the Bureaucrat permission aswhell if they wish)

The thing I'm noting now, is that when I Adopted the Narutopedia the community was the kind that liked fanatic things towards the topic. One of the things I did to ask them if they wanted to change the displayed name of those tags. Techincally the tags still use the technicall definition, but using MediaWiki messages it's possible to alter the name of the permission as displayed in Listusers, and in various system messages.

On the Narutopedia we replaced Bureaucrat with Kage, Sysop with Jonin, Rollback with Tokubetsu Jonin, etc... And the community kinda liked the fanatic change in terms. I notice that similarly (Noticing users reffering to each other as "Fellow Saiyans") the community here has a bit of a fanatic side to it. Similarly if you pick some sort of Higherarchy from the Dragon Ball Univers I can alter the way the system displays the tags whenever I get those admin tags placed on my user. ~Dantman(talk) Apr 25, 2007 @ 19:43 (UTC)

Maybe the various Kaios and Kaioshins? Thanos6 09:37, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
How about using saiyan ranks and forms, like-
  • Anon = Normal Saiyan
  • Registered user = Saiyan(that is upper-class saiyan)
  • Rollback = Super Saiyan
  • Bot = Super Saiyan 2
  • Sysop = Super Saiyan 3
  • Bureaucrat =Super Saiyan 4

Lol, that'd be sweeeeeeet, but I don't think PZ would want to be called a Super Saiyan 3, lol. -- Kamehameha.10X.Ka.me.ha.me.ha.....talk.....contrib. 13:27, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

Is this going to go ahead? :o  SSJ4 Lewich  talk  contribs  16:19, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

I must say, I love this idea as well. I think it's really easy to type in SS, SS2, etc. I also like the races-based one above this one though. Both are awesome, and I think some sort of stylized change should be made so it has to do with the Dragon Ball universe. --==> DragonBall.Z GT Goku  Goku ssj4 gt-openingTalk Contributions. 17:58, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

Many other Wiki's have this sort of thing. Many others also have a points system too, where you gain special "titles" depending on how many edits you have made.  SSJ4 Lewich  talk  contribs  18:02, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah I would find this cool. I agree with DragonBallZGTGoku on the stylized change to make it more dragon ball related. BrolythelegendBroly 7 22:21, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
