Being a fan of DBZ I just cannot understand why nobody taught the human fighters Kaio-Ken. I mean I know that in the long run the saiyans still would have to do the fighting but I mean at least they would have done something. Take Krillin or Tien for example. Both of the fought both Buu and Cell and managed to hold their own for a while or at least do some damage (e.g Krillin headbutting Cell and Tien stopping one of Buus attacks with the Tri-Beam). Now imagine if they had known Kaio-Ken. At the very least they would have been more useful. Also I am aware that King Kai couldn`t preform the Technique because he couldn`t handle it but by the Android saga the Humans were miles strong than Goku was than when he learnt it so they should have been strong enough. What do you think ?

.....not even King Kai, the creator of the technique, had fully mastered it, as you pointed out. One could put forth the theory that only a select few would have the potential to use Kaio Ken without killing themselves, and the fact that only Goku appears to have been taught the technique would imply he's the only one who COULD use it effectively.
Later on, because of the danger that using Kaio Ken poses, it would make sense for it to not be used. Goku or King Kai would probably not want the other Z Fighters putting themselves at such a huge risk for questionable payoff, so they wouldn't bother teaching the technique anymore. —This unsigned comment was made by BlueMew1234 (talk • contribs) Please sign your posts with ~~~~ next time!

In one of the DBZ: Supersonic Warriors "What-if' stories, Goku returns from otherworld and teaches Krillin both Kaio-Ken and Spirit Bomb. However, it's up to debate whether that could actually happen. On a side note, I always believed that Tien's "Spirit Burst" technique used against Burter and Jeice and later in Movie 9 against Future Trunks was a modified Kaio-Ken; In the manga while on King Kai's planet Tien says (quoting the Viz translation; I'm unsure of it's validity): "If I master the essentials of the technique and add a few twists of my own, I should be able to avoid another humiliating defeat." I underlined the word "technique" because it could refer to the Kaio-Ken seeing as how he never performs the Spirit Bomb (these two techniques are the only ones I know of unique to King Kai's training) and the word "twists" because although the Spirit Burst behaves like a Kaio-Ken it doesn't put any strain on Tien's body whereas the Kaio-Ken always strains Goku. This indicates one of the "twists" Tien mentioned may have been eliminating body strain. False Super Saiyan Jake (talk) 23:42, February 11, 2014 (UTC)
