[[Category:{{{1}}}|So is Bardock his own great grandfather? Who did he mate with to create the saiyan Blood race?]]

DB Heroes OVA isn't canon. That's all.

I made a similar thread long ago, but it was shot down by Dr.Who fans lol. In all honesty, though, I still couldn't understand how Bardock went back in time. If he was the first Saiyan, how did he recognize Chilled as Freeza? And if he was Goku's father first, how did Freeza know of the Super Saiyans if he hadn't travelled back in time (since Bardock was the reason of the Super Saiyans)? This is due to how DBZ treats time travel inconsistently - unlike the Trunks saga, this time travel seems to affect the same timeline.  Bardock goes back in time and retains some of his memories of Frieza, so of course he recognizes Chilled as similar to Frieza.  Then legend spreads through Chilled's descendents that he was defeated by a Super Saiyan, with the legend eventually reaching Frieza himself.  At this point I assume that the Original Bardock has died of old age and a new Bardock has been born. Janemba4eva (talk) 16:06, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

^But that still doesn't answer why Freeza knew of the Super Saiyan warning if Bardock hadn't gone back in time yet. Time must have a starting point, and both situations disrupt either situation. The ony logical answer would be if there are two different Bardocks, but due to his memory that wouldn't make sense either. SuperGogeta91 (talk) 19:06, March 13, 2013 (UTC)

2 Different Bardocks? Really?

This is ridiculous, Bardock is dead! He died along with Planet Vegeta, there is no way he could've remotely survived that Supernova. Regardless of his ability to see into the future that doesn't mean he could go back in time! The Episode of Bardock is nothing more than a 'what if' scenario, not to be taken literal at all. You know how in DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi in the story mode if you defeat the special battles you earn a 'what if' storyline? It's just like that. Why do people honestly and wholeheartedly take this Bardock the 1st Super Saiyan thing to the 3rd power? It's non-canon, didn't happen, it's poppycock!

There's only 2 Legendary Super Saiyans that Frieza and the rest of the Saiyan race knew about!

Number 1 is the unknown Saiyan Vegeta referred to on Planet Namek, this Saiyan transformed into the Golden Oozaru and began killing everybody, eventually self-destructing because he couldn't sustain that immense power.

Number 2 is Broly! Simply because of the power level he was born with, it was unheard of during that time. This infant Saiyan baby was tough enough to take on King Vegeta, that's why he's legendary.

Bardock, shouldn't even be included in this, I forget what rank he was as a warrior but his power ranged around the 10,000's also. Hell, if they made a damn Episode of King Vegeta would everyone believe he's the 1st SSJ? Get outta here with this nonsense. Please!

^I don't recall anyone calling Bardock a legend, but I could be wrong. As for your are quite wrong my friend. You listed two legends, one of which was a "non canon" character (Broly). How do you count him as a legend, but not Bardock when they are both non canon characters? We're just speaking on why/how this works the way it does. Nothing about canon material. I believe the OP just wants to know where Bardock fits in the timeline (even if the story is farfetched). Don't ignore it by saying something simple like it never happened. It would be easier to explain my previous post by presenting the story chronologically.  Bardock from "Bardock: The Father of Goku," is transported into the past on Planet Plant.  There, he meets Chilled, becomes a Super Saiyan, and defeats him.  A battered Chilled requests that the legend of the Super Saiyan be passed along to his descendents.  Super Saiyan Bardock dies of old age, and the legend spreads all the way to the "present."  By this time, a new Bardock has been born (so yes, there would be two separate Bardocks), and Frieza has heard of the Super Saiyan.  New Bardock once again goes through the events of "Bardock: The Father of Goku," getting sent back in time after Frieza's supernova. Hope that makes more sense. Janemba4eva (talk) 03:12, March 14, 2013 (UTC)

Only 1 Bardock

Can you guys honestly with a straight face believe Bardock went back in time & there's somehow two versions of him? There's no trying to make sense of this. From the logic you guys are saying Bardock went back in time, killed some Chilled creature by turning SSJ then died of old age. Then in the present somehow a new version of himself is born, what? Somebody replied to me & said how can I call Broly the LSSJ and not Bardock since they're both non-canon characters, simple because Bardock died when Planet Vegeta exploded, Broly didn't! The question of this forum asks who did Bardock mate with to create the Saiyan race, so is that implying that he's every Saiyan's father? See how ridiculous this is getting?

Right. Let's use logic in an anime where humans can fly and aliens can alter their appearance just by willing it.

1. Unknown Saiyan - Golden Oozaru - Self Destruction - Original Legendary Super Saiyan

2. Broly - born with 10,000 power level - escaped Vegeta's explosion - became the next LSSJ

Bardock - Goku's father - Gohan's grandfather - Goten's grandfather - Pan's Great Grandfather - died when Vegeta exploded - never achieved SSJ

Chilled - a lame imitation of Frieza's 1st form - only created for the episode - has no authenticity - shouldn't ever be mentioned again!

"See how ridiculous this is getting?"  Going back and interacting/interfering with the "present" is a pretty common motif in time travel fiction.  My explanation contained nothing out of the ordinary as far as that's concerned.  From your post, it's obvious that you have not seen or heard of Episode of Bardock, which was made for DB Heroes, in which Bardock is indeed transported back in time where he does indeed defeat a creature named Chilled.  Nobody here has stated that EoB is canon, but the fact is that EoB had a storyline in which Bardock travelled back in time, and we are simply discussing the possibilities that were not covered in the OVA. Janemba4eva (talk) 01:51, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

I Know

I understand the discussion and I have seen the Episode of Bardock, a couple of times. What I'm saying is, there's no possible way even in the DB universe that he could've survived that Supernova. Whenever I watch Bardock: The Father of Goku special that's related to the storyline as far as Goku's untold heritage. Even manga wise because Frieza had a brief flashback of Bardock, but this Episode of Bardock deal just unwraps everything I believed. Not only that but the plot contradicts everything even mentioned about the Legendary SSJ.

The only way this can possibly make sense is by saying he went back in time, killed Chilled (which is a dumb name), became the Legend, died of old age and somehow got reborn amongst the Saiyan genocide generation. So the Legend was himself but Bardock didn't know it? See this is what I mean!

It can't be related to the storyline. To me, that's just like Plan to Eradictae the Saiyans thing, I don't credit that to the official storyline. It's unrelated, never happened. Only 2 legends, the unknown Saiyan and Broly. Storyline and canonicity purposes then yes Broly's non-canon to that but my view of the DB world I include characters with backstory. Just think of how many key points we would've missed out on if not for Bardock: Father of Goku, Cooler's Revenge, and Broly: the Legendary Super Saiyan. Based on the manga and anime, we learn Frieza destroyed Vegeta, Goku and Vegeta are the last pure blooded, but that would've been it. We would'nt have knew that Bardock is Goku's father and this is how he died, Frieza has a brother who could've killed baby Kakarot and infant Broly who's power alone survived Frieza's Supernova.

That's what I mean, and Episode of Bardock isn't related or can be believable in any way to me.

^SEE THIS IS WHAT I MEAN! people needa stop saying someones mind whats wrong and right is messed up you didnt create it so how would you know what meant to be Canon or not EOB MAKES ALOT OF SENSE Bardock is transported back in time (Original time line) Killls Chilled who said to pass down the Legend of the Super saiyan from here he continued to train get stronger mated with a truffle along this time. One day a huge threat endagered planet Flower by that time he was a ssj3 he needed more power he transformed into golden Ozaru then (because he couldnt control the form) Destroyed VERYTHING AROUND HIM! except for the small tribe of his genes. Trying to power up exploded in Golden Ozaru Form. BOOM The legend of the Super Saiyan EOB Makes Sense

A SSJ3 you say? Bardock?

Planet Flower you say?
