vegeta says Goku is the best because he IS the best. think about it, Vegeta was born an elite warrior. he had some of the best possible training conditions. he and yet, Goku, born with a PL of 2, was able to get up to his power. and dont forget, Vegeta's about 10 years older than Goku, and 10 years in Dragon Ball can mean the difference between fighting Tien Shinhan and fighting Frieza. Vegeta SHOULD have been waaaaaaaaaaaaay stronger than Goku, but in the saiyan saga, he could only beat Goku by going great ape. if goku were able to do that, he would have been able to pound Vegeta into the ground. so why doesn't it make sense that Goku was able to reach ssj3 when Vegeta couldn't?
also, why should being human make him unable to shoot energy blasts. oh wait! you didn't watch the original dragonball, did you??

Bardock wasn't the legendary super saiyan. First of all, episode of bardock is more than likley, not cannon. second of all, The legendary super saiyan destroyed the saiyan homeplanet after transforming. Bardock became a super saiyan on planet plant before saiyans were known as a race to most others. Bardock and the legendary ssj were two different people. The whole golden ape stuff, as you call it, is the transformation a saiyan makes when he goes great ape and has achieved the ssj transformation (it's like a combination of the two). Why should vegeta be a ssj3 at gt? earth was at peace for 20 years so he had no reason to train. goku trained because he loved to fight, and that was his drive. Vegeta's drive was to be the best, but he realized that goku was always gonn a be better than him during the kid buu fight. at the end of gt, goku absorbed the dragon balls because shenron decided that the z fighter/earthlings couldn't handle the power of the dragonballs and needed to learn to solve their problems themselves, and also decided that goku deserved that goku was worthy of them, or something like that. Anyone, human or not, can do energy attacks. Every being can utilize ki with the proper training.

Goku is not the best, just better opportunities[]
Goku is not the best. Vegeta and the other Z fighters if given the same training opportunities as Goku will always surpass him in power. Vegeta is 10 years older yes, but unlike Goku, Vegeta was doing missions constantly under Frieza's watch while Goku was peacefully got time to train and become stronger. Tell me which is a more friendly enviroment to become stronger, doing mission after mission under the eyes of a tyrant who can kill you at any moments, or being on a cosy planet with friends, and friendly lovable teachers ?
1. If Goku had gone great ape he would lose all control,just as he did as a kid and would not be able to utilize the kai-o-ken technique, which is the only reason at all that he was on an even playing field with Vegeta.
2. Vegeta was battling Freiza's men on Namek Goku got time to heal and train and become more powerful by using a gravity machine, the same machine Vegeta would use to surpass Goku in power. later in the android saga .Also Goku always had someone to help him or show him new fighting techniques Vgeta had nothing but his own intuition and strength alone,
3. Vegeta spend 7 years by himself in isolation training. Goku had the best martial artist for sparing partners, and had the best teachers, plus times move slower in other world giving him even more of an advantage over Vegeta. Yet after 7 years Vegeta is only slightly weaker in SSJ2 than Goku.
In essence everyone of Goku's friends train harder than him and get more powerful than him before the SSJ transformation, as evident by the fact that they obtain much better result than him both with King kai training and Kami even without learning the kai-o-ken techinque.
Goku is just better opportunity while everyone else works harder than him, but don't get the same opportunities. If you gave Vegeta the same conditions as Goku, Vegeta will surpass him.Why you think Goku is so keen on keeping his secrets away from Vegeta, Its because deep down he does not like anyone becoming stronger than him, unless their his sons.

He can't message-wise be the strongest. He feels he's entitled to being the strongest. It is supposed to be his birthright. These arrogant characters aren't supposed to win because it teaches a message of entitlement. Noble and pure characters are the ones that deserve victory. The message even goes so far as to say that you don't have to take things seriously as long as your intentions are pure (Goku is nonchalant and doesn't care as much whereas Vegeta is dedicated and serious.)
I get what you're saying though, and one could take away the message that is "genes are all that matters, dedication means nothing."

EVERYBODY HAD THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES AS GOKU. ESPECIALLY vegeta. Everything he did could have been training. Everything Goku did actually was training. Getting to the worlds martial arts tournament became swimming accross the ocean. Do you really think Vegeta would have done that? And Vegeta spent 7 years training by himself? Is that supposed to be a disadvantage? Goku spent 3 years training by himself and came back stronger than ever. And what about that Goku spent getting to namek?
Face it Vegeta fanboys, Goku is stronger.

I hate GT. I hate Pan's attitude towards her grandpa. In the Dragonball Z Pan loved her grandpa so much but in GT she doesn't respect her grandpa. I also hate Goku's character, not only he became small his attitude as well became childish. Collecting the black star dragonballs would be easy if they were serious on their mission and if only they would tranformed into Super Saiyan for every battle they face, they act as if they were weaklings. How come they were so scared on Bullets and Missiles? Goku was a lot stronger that Cell and Cell was not scared when the entire army attack him, so why in GT they were so scared on bulletes and missiles? In DragonBall GT Episode 24, if only Goku and trunks transform into Super Saiyans, Baby would be long dead. And how come in that episode Trunks got cut on his shoulder??what??Impossible, Babys current power in that episode could not hurt them because in that state compare Freeza to Baby's power,it was nothing; I could say it was nothing because even Pan's strength can hurt him..So lame!! Will if they killed Baby in that episode Goku may tranform into Super Saiyan 4 in his battle with the Super Android 17..And about Super Android, how come he's so powerfull?????Two Androids fuse together and his power can match the power of a Super Saiyan4??what??An adroid with that kind of power??Stupidity...Goku trained hard to achieved such power but those Scientist can easily create and Android that can match Guko's power..Stupidity..Well maybe if the Android's strength from hell was equal to majin buu's strenght or more and by fussing his power with the other Adroid I think by that method he may achieved strength equal to a Saiyan4,but two Adroid 17 fuse together?no way..Perfect Cell might be stronger if thats the case..As we all know, Perfect Cell sucked Android 17 and 18's power for him to become Perfect and thats 3 Adroids in one body, 17 18 and Cell..hehehe..And the 7 dragons??They were the negative energy from Shenron. The 7 dragons were strong no question about that, but let say Porunga was the one they abuse, we all know that Porunga was the strongest dragon and you can really say that he is the strongest base on the size of his dragonball. If Porunga the almighty dragon was abuse, the 7 evil dragon would be more or less 10x stronger than Shenrons 7 evil dragon. So if goku fights those dragons he should acquire strength more or less 10x his current power, Oh my God! With that power, a single punch can destroy a planet..My question is..How come those evil dragons power so strong that it can match Gukos Super Saiyan4? Majin buu's strength would be enough. Their power so strong that Guko and Vigeta both in Saiyan4 needed to fuse in order to defeat such monster..I watch Dragonball Kai straight to Dragonball GT and I was dissapointed when I watch dragonball GT, I was dissapointed on how they create new enemys for the Z fighters. They created questionable enemys. I hate Goku's character!!!grrrrrrrrrrr..VERY CHILDISH..exaggerated

It's stated that Akira Toriyama really doesn't like Vegeta and I guess he wanted to always make Vegeta second place to Goku and always get the blunt end in many battles.
Monster Zarbon kicking Vegeta's arse the first time.
Recoome kicks Vegeta's ass.
Frieza punishes Vegeta and then kills him with a Death Beam.
Android 18 punishes Vegeta, breaks his arm as well.
Cell punishes Vegeta once, and then he nearly kills him with' Time to Die!' much later.
Majin Buu pounds on Vegeta after Vegeta gave it a try, it was until Trunks stepped in he was able to get ahead.
Kid Buu nearly ends his existance thrice.
I guess then, by the Buu Saga, it was Vegeta's time to hold the torch for once. It started to revolve around Vegeta for awhile, then to Gotenks, then moved to Gohan, then back to Vegeta and finally Goku, whom gets his only kill in the series besides Yakon. You know, Vegeta could indeed transcend past SSJ2 if he was let in the Other World to train, or if he continued training for the next 5 years. Vegeta gave in a bit too soon if you ask me.
When Vegeta realized Goku can turn SSJ3, he knew their fight as Majin Vegeta vs. Goku was meaningless because Goku could've done that, but that would've accelerated his time on earth and he can only hold it for 5 minutes at best. Oh well, Vegeta and Goku made up and became friends. They could still have had their final battle before the end of the series.
Oh, Pan only disrespected Goku because he was a kid and she was taller. Whom she got that personality from, I don't know but adolesenceness does things to kids. Neither Videl and Gohan were like that. Well, at least Goku was 12 again so he kind of got an Elixer of Life thanks to Pilaf.

if u read the manga or watch the anime the biggest difference is that vegeta will train until he becomes the strongest. Goku on the other hand will train to be the strongest and then just continues to train past that. So in summary vegeta trains to reach a point and stps. Goku just trains for the sake of training.
