Garlic is a character in the Dragon Ball Z universe. He is only mentioned twice in the storyline. He competed with the nameless Namek for the throne of Kami. The Namek was chosen over Garlic because unlike the Namek, Garlic held evil ambitions that soon became apparent to the previous Kami. Garlic resented the decision, and created an army of evil demons which he led right to Kami's Lookout in order to overthrow him. According to Kami, his predecessor cast Garlic and his demons into the realm of darkness called the Dead Zone, a negative space from which he would never return.
However, in the Garlic Jr. Saga, a flashback recaps the scene of Garlic forcefully trying to take the throne, revealing that Garlic was sealed in an orb similar to the type of bottle that Garlic Jr. used to capture and contain Kami and Mr. Popo with, except that the orb is in a 3-dimensional Star-of-David shape, and instead of clear, the orb is opaque and pitch black. One may infer that Garlic was kept in that orb for the remainder of his life.

- Levitate, considering him being equal to Kami, Garlic would have been able to fly.
- Ki Blasts, Garlic could fire ki blasts in the same way his son did.
- Demon Explosion, Garlic retracts his full power to within his body to finally let this amount of pure ki leave his body in the blink of an eye, causing a pink shockwave of ki energy which causes great damage and confusion to his opponent.
- Finger Wave, Garlic could launch energy waves from his finger to attack his opponents at a distance.
- Transform, considering that he is Garlic Jr's father, Garlic would also have been able to transform into a larger form, which turns his body into a dark green color and lets him gain enormous muscles, and which increases his power level with approximately 2,5x normal. (in his case, the transformation would be even more larger than his son's transformation, due to his son being as tall as a child and him being a full grown adult Makyan male)
- Dead Zone, the most dangerous attack of Garlic, which he uses on characters he hates, and not only wants to kill, but who he wants to torture to, such as Kami.
