Grandpa Gohan (孫悟飯, Son Gohan) is a fictional character in the 2009 film Dragonball Evolution. He is an adaptation of Grandpa Gohan, the surrogate grandfather of Goku in Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball franchise and is portrayed by Randall Duk Kim.

Biography[]

Gohan was a martial artist who trained under Master Roshi when he was younger, the orange and blue gi Goku wears was worn by Gohan when he was Master Roshi's student. Like in the original Dragon Ball manga, Gohan finds the abandoned Goku in the wild as an infant, and raises him as his own grandson, training him in martial arts and telling him the legend of Piccolo and Oozaru, two powerful aliens who nearly destroyed the world two millennia earlier. On the day of Goku's eighteenth birthday, Gohan gives him the four-star Dragon Ball as a birthday present. Later, he prepares Goku's birthday dinner, but, unbeknownst to him, Goku has left to attend a party. Later, he was attacked by Mai and Piccolo, the later of whom uses telekinesis to bring the roof down on Gohan.

Sensing that something is wrong, Goku returns home to find Gohan mortally wounded. Before dying, Gohan tells Goku to locate Master Roshi.

Gohan appears once more in the film; when Goku is shot by Mai and suffers a near-death experience, he is confronted by Gohan, who tells him that it is not yet his time to die.
