Hi-Tension (ハイテンション Hai Tenshon) is a special technique used by a number of characters in the Budokai, Budokai Tenkaichi, and Raging Blast series.

Overview[]

This move intensifies the character with enhanced power, making their physical attacks more powerful for a limited time at the cost of 1 to 3 Blast Stock, depending on the character. It also fills 2 of the Ki gauges and allows the ability to charge up to happen faster, until the character attacks with a rush or Energy Blast attack.

Video Game Appearances[]

In the Budokai series, when Mr. Satan powers up his ki gauge, he is able to activate this skill (spelled "High Tension"). Once activated, white aura seeps out through his skin and radiates in a flame-like manner. Mr. Satan's daughter, Videl, has the same type of aura.

In Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3, when Super Saiyan Gotenks uses the Hi-Tension Blast 1, unlike all other characters, who wipes their mouth when using this move, Gotenks does his peace-sign pose.

In Dragon Ball: Raging Blast, Hi-Tension will allow the user to go to MAX Power. If MAX Power ends, the character's entire ki bar will be consumed. Since the advantages in this move are so overrated, only a few characters can use it. Also, in Raging Blast, MAX power is not named such, but rather called Hi-Tension. In Hi-Tension, the character can pull off an Ultimate Blast and any other normal attacks. It does however still consume ki to use super attacks, signature attacks, and all other ki consuming attacks whilst in Hi-tension mode.

In Dragon Ball Online, it is used by the Youth.
