The Saiyan/Human blood combination is stronger than just pure Saiyan because Humans got that mercy/emotion/spirit aspect rather than just mindless brute force. That's why even though Goku was pure Saiyan he was a weak class Saiyan, because he was brought up as human the union of body and mind and kindness makes him stronger. this fact plagues Vegeta and forever haunts him from the beginning -- "Why/How is this low class Saiyan stronger than me?". That's why Gohan, Goten, and Trunks were able to transform at such an early age.
