Jiya (ジヤ Jiya) is a short three chapter manga illustrated by Masakazu Katsura and written by Akira Toriyama that ran from December 2009 to January 2010 in Weekly Young Jump, and released in a collected volume with Sachie-chan Guu!! on April 4, 2014. It is part of Akira Toriyama's "Galactic Patrol series", along with Sachie-chan Guu!! and Jaco the Galactic Patrolman.[1]

Plot[]

Jiya is an alien and a Galactic Patrol member on a mission to Earth. His first encounter with human kind is rescuing the rich party girl Beniya Kaede and her chauffeur Yukio Kyumonji from mountain bandits. Using the chauffeur's body as a host, Jiya is going to check out rumors of a recent infestation of "vampires" that are attacking beautiful young women on Earth.

Timeline Placement[]

It is implied that this manga may take place at least one year before the events of Dragon Ball Minus since the information that the Galactic King has of Earth being a thriving developing planet and worth saving was sent to him by Jiya after countering Steth's false report saying otherwise.

Trivia[]

  • The Galactic King who is later seen in Jaco the Galactic Patrolman is first mentioned in this series.
  • Katsura stated that the shot of Kaede dropping her bathrobe and showing her naked body to Kyuumonji is modeled after the shot of Bulma naked in "They Call Him...the Turtle Hermit!". Toriyama who stated that the women were the only thing he was visually unsatisfied with in this manga and said that he felt Katsura's rendition for Kaede's naked shot felt underwhelming because she still had her panties on.
  • Yukio and Kaede appear in the fourth chapter of Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission.
