"Simian bastard! I am Lord Frieza. None surpass me! No one even comes close! Etch this into your skull! I am emperor of the universe! The likes of you are only fit to grovel at my feet! Or better still... to die... in disgrace... AT THE HANDS OF YOUR MASTER!"
— Frieza in "Goku's Final Attack! Countdown to Planet Namek's Destruction!"

Last Emperor (ラストエンペラー Rasuto Enperā)[8] is a variation of Death Cannon used by Frieza in his 100% Full Power form.

Frieza fires Last Emperor at Goku

Frieza uses this attack against Super Saiyan Goku. After Frieza is accidentally bisected by his Death Saucer, he begs for mercy from Goku, who gives some of his energy to the tyrant and flies away. However, Frieza does not accept defeat and, after giving a soliloquy fueled only by his rage regarding his status as the most powerful being in the universe, fires Last Emperor in his final attempt to kill Goku. However, Goku counterattacks with an Angry Kamehameha, overpowering Frieza's attack and finally defeating the tyrant.[9] It is later revealed that Frieza survives, albeit severely maimed.[10]

Variations[]

Video Game Appearances[]

In Budokai, it appears in a cutscene that reenacts the manga/anime scene.

In Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Burst Limit, and Tenkaichi Tag Team, it is named You Will Die By My Hand! where it appears as Frieza's Ultimate Blast in his 100% Power form.

In the Raging Blast series, Ultimate Tenkaichi, Dragon Ball Z For Kinect and Dokkan Battle, it is named I'm the One Who'll Kill You!.

In Battle of Z, it is named I Will Kill You! and is Frieza's ultimate attack.

In Dragon Ball Xenoverse, this technique is referenced by Frieza's Z-Soul, "You must die by my hand!", which activates upon being KO'd negating said KO and reviving the user while increasing Ki Blast Super power. Equipping this Z-Soul increases Basic ATK and Strike Supers by 3 while decreasing Health and Ki Blast Supers by 3.

In Xenoverse 2, it is named Last Emperor which appears as an Ultimate Skill used by Frieza in his 100% and Golden forms. It can be obtained by the Future Warrior as a reward in Parallel Quest 71: "Abominable Saiyans" or by purchasing it from the TP Medal Shop. As it does not use up Ki when performed, it can only be used once per battle and only when the user has reached low health which fits with its use by Frieza during the climax of his battle with Super Saiyan Goku. As such, it is a hit-or-miss attack and functions as a reverse of Breaker Energy Wave. After the 1.09.00 Update, this skill can be added to 1st Form Frieza's custom skillset after purchasing it in Partner Customization.

In FighterZ, it is named You must die by my hand! and can only be used while Frieza is down. Should the battle finish with Goku KO'ing Frieza on the Planet Namek stage, a Dramatic Finish will ensue where the conclusion of the Battle of Namek will be re-enacted with Frieza firing the move at a departing Goku, only for Goku to snuff it out with the Angry Kamehameha.

In Dragon Ball Heroes, it is named Death Final (デスファイナル) and was added in Big Bang Mission 9 as the Super Attack of Frieza's "BM9-SEC3" card after transforming into his Full Power form.

Trivia[]

  • The ironic part about Frieza's statement in the Dragon Ball Z Kai dub is that, while he vents that "the likes of you are only fit to grovel at my feet", Frieza currently has no feet as he was arrogantly bisected by his own Death Saucer a few moments earlier.
  • Frieza's rage-induced soliloquy just before firing the attack varies between dubs and various mediums.
    • In the full colored manga, Frieza reiterates in his head that he alone is the strongest in the universe, and as such Goku must die by Frieza's hand, before promptly shouting upon launching the attack that Goku will be killed by him.
    • In the Japanese version of the anime, he spitefully cusses out Goku and reiterates that he's the emperor of the universe and by extension the greatest in existence and finds himself too enraged to describe Goku any further before resolving to have Goku die by his hand and reiterate that he'll be killed by him with some difficulty.
      • The Latin American Spanish dub was largely the same, although it also had Frieza angrily denouncing Goku as an insect, and declare he no longer cares what will happen as he intends to kill Goku in whatever means are available to him.
    • In the original and remastered versions as well as the flashback in "The Mysterious Youth", he spitefully asks if Goku truly thinks he won while calling him a "poor stupid Saiyan", also declaring that Goku's mind can never comprehend that Frieza's the most powerful, while Goku's little more than a fragile beast/monkey by comparison, also reiterating his belief that because Frieza, unlike Goku, was the mighty one, the latter can't win, before declaring that Goku will soon learn what the consequences are for deciding to mess with the self-proclaimed most powerful being in the universe.
    • In the Dragon Ball Z Kai dub, Frieza, similar to the Japanese anime above, cusses out Goku, and states that no one even comes close to surpassing the tyrant, and demands that Goku etch into his skull that Frieza's the universal Emperor and that Goku's (ironically) only position was to grovel at Frieza's feet, before deciding instead his true fate is to die in disgrace at the hands of his master, viewing that as the better outcome.
      • This speech also varied slightly depending on versions of the dub due to censorship. In the Nicktoons version, his cussing out Goku is toned down to have him call him a "Simian upstart" instead of a "Simian bastard" due to the TV-Y7-FV rating (as "bastard" is considered a severe swear word). Similarly, his line immediately before launching the attack is toned down to avoid the explicit reference to death, where he instead yells out "Or better, still, to be crushed, like an insect, at the whim of your master!" The 4Kids version cuts out the insult to Goku and also the death threat altogether (as well as the resulting beam struggle between Last Emperor and Angry Kamehameha).
    • In Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit, Frieza, while laboring for words, declares that he's the strongest, that he alone is mighty, and calls Goku a monkey before growling angrily and then declaring that's why he won't lose to Goku ever.
  • In some video games such as Burst Limit, while Frieza's overall stance when using the technique is the same, he is shown to retain all of his body parts when using the technique mostly because of the games' tendency to omit Frieza's backfired attempt at using Death Saucer and the resulting bisection.
