Lock-On Buster (ロックオンバスター) is a cybernetic-enhanced version of the Darkness Eye Beam used by the Meta-Coolers.

Overview

First, the Meta-Cooler uses his 3D Scan Mode to locate his target and lock-onto them, then creates a small amount of sparkling energy in front of his face. Then, he shouts "I got you!" and fires a fast-moving beam that leaves behind a sparkling trail and creates a huge blinding explosion upon impact.

The first Meta-Cooler encountered uses this attack during his battle against Super Saiyans Goku and Vegeta in the movie, Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler. After avoiding Vegeta's Big Bang Attack using his Instant Transmission, Meta-Cooler appears and knees Vegeta in the stomach, surprising and temporarily knocking out the Saiyan prince. Using his cybernetic modifications to locate Goku, Meta-Cooler punches Vegeta towards Goku and fires the Lock-On Buster at Goku and Vegeta, leaving them moderately injured.

Appearances in games

Lock-On Buster was named in the Budokai Tenkaichi series and is one of Meta-Cooler's Blast 2 attacks. In Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2, the Lock-On Buster is a Rush Attack. Though Meta-Cooler is not playable in the game (Cooler appearing only in his Metal Cooler (nucleus) form as one of Story Mode giant bosses), his Lock-On Buster technique does and is one of the Standard Hero's learn-able Super Attacks in Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi. Despite the hero's apparent lack of any cybernetics, the Hero will view their opponent in 3D Scan Mode briefly, making the attack seem somewhat implausible, unless the Hero has a scouter equipped.
