Mitsuo Hashimoto (橋本みつお, or 橋本光夫 under its actual spelling) is a Japanese storyboard artist and director of television, OVA, and film anime. While he was under contract with Toei Animation, he worked for other companies under the name Genjūrō Tachibana (立花源十郎).

Biography[]

After joining Toei Animation, Mitsuo Hashimoto became the assistant director for Dr. Slump, and he directed the movies Dr. Slump and Arale-chan: Hoyoyo!! Follow the Rescued Shark..., Dr. Slump and Arale-chan: N-cha! Love Comes From Penguin Village, and Dr. Slump and Arale-chan: N-cha!! Trembling Heart of the Summer. Hashimoto was then promoted to director for the three Dragon Ball TV series. He also served as director for several Dragon Ball OVAs and films, including "Goku's Traffic Safety", Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug, Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge, and Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon. Mitsuo Hashimoto also worked on Dragon Ball: Curse of the Blood Rubies, Dragon Ball: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle, and Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might.

Outside of Akira Toriyama's mangas, Hashimoto directed B-Legend! Battle Bedaman, Bakugan, Battle B-Daman, BeybladeScan2GoChobits, Galaxy Angel, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne, Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbo, Maze, Ninku, Panyo Panyo Di Gi Charat, Director, and Pipopapo Patrol-kun.

In later years, Mitsuo Hashimoto has worked as a director on mostly independent anime works.
