Pterodactyls are huge flying reptiles. They live in Mount Paozu but are also seen outside in many other places of the Earth. One captured Bulma on the first episode of Dragon Ball but is knocked down by Goku's Power Pole. In a later episode one is seen in the beginning hiding from Goku before his encounter with the Bear Thief. It is possible it is the same one from the first episode. Giran, a dinosaur that appears later on in the series, has many other friends that are dinosaurs it is unknown if this Pterodactyl is one of them or has any relation to Giran or his gang. In another episode a Pterodactyl attacks Nam, but is killed by Goku with a hit over its head with the power pole. During the Great Saiyaman Saga, a baby pterodactyl named Chobi is stolen from his father Toh Toh and his mother. He is eventually saved and returned by Gohan and Videl. Also in Cooler's Revenge a member of the same species is briefly seen when it flies by Naize, who thinks it set off his scouter rather than Krillin's Ki Blast.
A Pterodactyl also briefly appears in the Namek saga. It was chasing Bulma until Krillin and Gohan shot it down.
