Takeshi Aono (青野 武 Aono Takeshi) (June 19, 1936 - April 9, 2012) was a Japanese voice actor and actor from Asahikawa, Hokkaidō. He was attached to Aoni Production at the time of his death.
Biography[]
Takeshi Aono graduated from Hokkaidō Asahikawa Higashi High School. He voiced Ninja Murasaki, King Piccolo, Kami and Hero in the original Japanese version of the Dragon Ball anime. He was slo known for the roles of Shiro Sanada (Space Battleship Yamato), Rihaku (Fist of the North Star), Nurarihyon (GeGeGe no Kitaro), Kumahachi Kumada (Kiteretsu Daihyakka), Dakuan (Ninja Scroll), Jinpachi Mishima (Demon form, Tekken 5/Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection), and Tomozō Sakura (Chibi Maruko-chan).
In May 2010, Takeshi suffered from a stroke, which ended his career as a voice actor. On the afternoon of April 9, 2012, Takeshi suffered a bout of post-operative multiple cerebral infarction and was found dead.
The late Takeshi Aono received a lifetime achievement award for his many years of service and contributions to the industry on March 1, 2013, in the 7th Seiyu Awards in Japan.[1]
