Is it a good idea to start listing the number of differences between the manga and Dragon Ball SD yet? Chances are many things will be revealed which means massive re-editting every week is required however keeping track of differences is what we have done for every adaption there is... From the movies to the live action movies to the anime...
I have some notes from when I read the chapter to start us off...
Chapter 1: + Grandpa Gohan is dead but he left a letter for Goku to go to Roshi.
+ Goku uses a Kintoun to get to Roshi but doesn't recognise him.
+ Roshi doesn't know what Goku wanted when he arrived when Goku was invited by Roshi for training in the manga.
+ Krillin was there with Roshi before Goku arrived.
+ After a few gags, they skip to the Island of Training. No mention of capsules, Launch or Dragon Balls yet.
+ Instead of the many training methods in the manga or a rock search, it is simply a one month survival in the jungle.
+ Kamehameha debuts (based on Goku learning it from there) with Roshi destroying an erupting volcano.
+ Krillin was never hostile in Dragon Ball SD to Goku, being friendly from nearly the start and enjoyed Goku's wild life style.
+ Krillin is captured by a pterodactyl and Goku uses the Kamehameha for it's first time to save Krillin.
+ Goku stated he couldn't use the Kintoun as it is at Roshi's... Seemingly it doesn't come from the sky any more based on the first page and this.
Yep, no Bulma, no Yamcha, no Dragon Balls, no capsules, no Launch...
But those are things that could easily turn up later even if the whole Goku sees Kamehameha at Fire Mountain plot has been stabbed and thrown in a river... The way it is written implies as soon as Gohan died, Goku set off to Roshi (and knew how to get to Roshi as the travel process is offpanel).
I'll keep that out of my addition and clean up the Chapter 1 stuff before posting it.
Chapter numbers[]
Shouldn't the chapter numbers start from 1 in season 2? In the tankobon at least, the first chapter is number 1.
