Vegeta uses his newly-found power and speed to save Gohan from Frieza's Death Beam. While Gohan is grateful, Vegeta tells him that he doesn't care about saving him, he only did it to demonstrate and test out his new powers, now that he has finally declared himself a Super Saiyan. While the Saiyan prince's power goes to unimaginable heights, Frieza dodges every single blast that Vegeta sends at the tyrant and deflects his most powerful attack. Frieza then declares that he was going to fight, and Vegeta, having lost the will to fight, is quickly defeated and overwhelmed. Gohan tries to intervene, but Piccolo stops him, saying that it would not do any good. Just then, Goku is finally finished healing, finding his power to be extraordinarily higher than before, nearing one million.
