  • So, I would appreciate input from crats, admins, and regular users on whether it sounds like a good idea to allow trial runs for users to be a temporary moderator. I have a user who uses discussions part of the wiki who would like to be a discussions moderator. One thing I would like to do is run him through a trial run. See how he handles situations and such. Maybe one week of him dealing with most of the issues we run into on discussions and see if he would make a good permanent moderator. Before I first became a moderator on another wiki I went through a trial as a discussions moderator and chat moderator first to see how I handled situations. I am not offering for it to be a requirement but just want opinions on whether it is a good idea. And I'd like as many admins and crats to pitch in as well so I know whether I should do it. Thank you. Much appreciated.

    • I think we should know who it is before we have our say on it.

    • The user I'm considering is User:Gary Oakkk. He is a discussions moderator at Pokémon wiki and basically it would only give him rights to delete posts, approve reported posts, and simply moderate discussions. Btw, I only mean the discussions side of the wiki. It wouldn't give him rights to say moderate forums or anything on this side of the wiki. I would just like to give him a chance to really show me and the other admins he could moderate there well before I endorse him for permanent discussions moderator. He also would not gain the rights to ban users. That part would still be up to me and the other admins.

    • If you trust him, I trust him.

    • Do you think as an admin we should be able to give temporary rights for times like these? Or should we just simply endorse them and hope it works out well for the wiki? We have the ability to give these rights but I don't want to do it without discussion with others.

    • If the user that wanted to be granted these rights has a history of being well respected and able to do their duties very well. Then I believe it would be easier to just simply endorse them instead.

    • I can give it to him right now if you're satisified with this discussion.
