Ultimate Final Strategy (真・最後の秘策 ) is Mercenary Tao's ultimate technique.
Overview[]
When facing certain defeat, Tao begs for mercy by saying "Please forgive me!", making the opponent walk away. While the opponent is caught off-guard, Tao pulls out a grenade and throws it at the opponent, exploding in front of the opponent and inflicting a great amount of damage.
Usage[]
Mercenary Tao uses this attack in attempt to kill Goku. Tao jumps up into the air to avoid being caught in the explosion, but Goku kicks the grenade up to Tao, where he is seemingly killed in the blast. However, it is later revealed that Tao survives and is rebuilt as "Cyborg Tao".
Film Appearances[]
In Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure, General Tao uses something similar of the sort when he is overpowered by Goku, Arale Norimaki and the Gatchans. He begs for mercy, then brings out a capsule with a flying motorcycle and offers to go back with Goku to apologize to everyone. While Goku is distracted, Tao snatches the Four-Star Dragon Ball and flies off, launching missiles at his enemies. However, Goku kicks the missiles to the sky and Arale headbutts it back to Tao, presumably killing Tao.
Video Game Appearances[]
Ultimate Final Strategy was named in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, where it is Mercenary Tao's Ultimate Blast.
Ultimate Final Strategy appears in Dokkan Battle as LR Mercenary Tao's Active Skill.
In Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot during the Cell Saga Sub Story "Crane School Scouting", Cyborg Tao humorously references the hand grenade explosion that led to him being converted into a cyborg after Super Saiyan Full Power Gohan knocks one of his Tao Pai Pai Machines in his direction. Like with the grenade, the Tao Pai Pai Machine blows up when it hits him, leaving his fate unclear.
Trivia[]
- Tao's begging is derived from the Japanese form of etiquette known as Dogeza.
- Tao's actions before conducting the technique have some similarity to that of Dr. Wily from the Mega Man games whenever defeated. Coincidentally, the episode this attack occurred in aired in Japan a few months before the release of the first Mega Man game, and Tao's Ocean Dub voice actor, Scott McNeil, also voiced Dr. Wily in the DiC Mega Man cartoons.
