What's good, guys?
So here's what's up, I'd like to propose a new editing team for the wiki. One thing you'll pick up on looking around this wiki is its massive overhaul of images on most pages (episodes and chatracter pages in particular). Sometimes that's pretty sweet, but other times it feels like an abysmal overhaul of useless pictures that takes away from the article.
If the community agrees, I think taking out images that don't really add anything to the article would be a smart idea, and would really improve the appearance of the wiki in general. Typically, other wikis of similar natures will have a system of what pictures we should be putting on each page. For example, One Piece wiki has an image for each varying outfit a character has worn, and will only post pictures on their character page if they were immensive story / plot moments heavily involving said character. Some wikis, like Bleach wiki, will even add a completely seperate side page for a gallery of character images. This would also work out pretty well.
The biggest thing, in my opinion, is our episode summary galleries. Go through some of those bad boys and really look through them. There's dozens of shots of just feet, characters standing around doing nothing, and blurred shots taken at the wrong time in a fight, and these images aren't even good quality.
Here's just an example of what I'm talking about. Let's take a look at Appule's gallery for a moment here.
I mean, come on, guys. This is Appule. Appule. We don't need every moment of his life, he's a minor character who really doesn't do anything to advance the story. The revisions I'd advise would be the removal of all images here except the moment of his death and any official art for his video game appearances. Here's an episode gallery to take a look at.
People, really look that one over. Are three shots Buu firing Blitzkreig really needed? I get it, man. We're Dragon Ball fans, the action is what excites us, and we wanna see it everywhere; but the action shots here serve no purpose at all in summarizing the episode or showing what the episode consisted of.
Finally, I'd like to propose also having people search out manga images with clearly fake translations on them, as they also look rather unprofessional. So the three proposed teams (assuming this takes effect) would be updating the character pages, removing not needed images from episode summaries, and seeking out replacement images for falsely translated manga pages. Let me know what you guys think! '
