Starting some DB community interaction

Hi, Wildyoda. Thanks for your message and welcome to the dragonball wiki. User:Sannse is going to set up a forum here. The reason there are no admins is because the person who requested the wiki never edited here (I'm not even sure he ever made a username). If you are able to find some new users, then we can create some admins once there are some regular editors here. Do you know anywhere you could find dragonball fans to promote this wiki? Angela talk 13:18, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

It can be quite risky putting links in Wikipedia articles since you could be accused of spamming and then all the links will be removed. However, leaving one message on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dragon Ball should be fine. Angela talk 20:44, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello Wilyoda

I have the same interests as you. Star Wars and Dragonball. But i use the FUNimation dub so there is Krillin not Kururin

Master Gogeta

No offense, dude, but if you use FUNimation info, you can state false information to people (like "Hercule").

Wildoya, you know I was talking to Master Gogeta right? There are certain info by FUNimation that's not even in the original Japanese series. And I didn't talk about the FUNimation logo.

What do you mean? The FUNimation dub is way more easy because its used in Dragonball Z games!!! and Dragonball Z is not on television any more in Holland!!

Hi, Wilyoda

I'd like to help out here. =) Although I'm not a master at editing pages so please excuse me. --KayChase talk contribs

Thanks for the tip (although I find the copying and pasting from the signature above a bit easier). And if you don't mind, I'd like for myself and others to contribute to the Current Events. Be sure to also have that on the Main Page. --KayChase talk contribs

Glad to Know SOMEONE Cares!

Yeah. I most definitely want to help out with anything I can. Thanks for getting at me about it. :D -- Goten X 03:58, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Hey there

Seems you saw me on Wikipedia an asked if i could help out here. Well, I'm gonna try, but you are right, this place is in terrible shape. There isn't evne a page for senzu beans yet. Would it be possible to use the information from Wikipedia? (Animedude360 08:47, 19 February 2007 (UTC))

I think I might join this as well DBZROCKS

Thank you for the offer! I actually am signed up here too, but I haven't done much over there as of yet. I noticed (and see in the manual of style) a preference for the dubbed anime, which I don't really abide. We've had much debate over here on Wikipedia and have grown to favor original sources over localizations, and I don't really want to get in that debate all over again.

If you want, I'll touch on why. I find info from the dub to be sketchy, and the argument "because this is American or English" to be flawed. The dub is inconsistent. Did you know they are on the verge of re-dubbing season 3 for the new DVD boxset release? Also, using the dub makes an attack list all but impossible. In Japan a master list was printed for the Daizenshuu, listing the attacks from the manga and anime, and is what the video games go by. In America, the names have been translated by different people for different releases at different times, and no master list exists. Video game translations are not consistent with each other (keep in mind in the original they are all using the same single list). Two examples. Tenshinhan/Tien's Kikoho is the Tri-beam, Blast Cannon, Ki Blast Cannon, and Chi Kung Blast. 4 names between manga, anime, and video games for what is one attack. On the other end, Piccolo's Bakurikimaha and Gohan's Masenko (two different attacks) are both now called the Masenkoha. The dub is also peppered with made up information, fake powerlevels (or omitted in some cases), etc. I was watching the Ultimate Uncut and Nappa says "there are over half a dozen people here with power levels over a thousand " or something like that (implying 7 or more). This line was made up, there were only 6 Z Senshi, and one of them was weaker than a thousand as it is.

Also, the Viz manga is just as official, as are Steve Simmons' official subtitle track using proper romanizations. So I don't jive with the idea that the anime dub tracks(s) are the only official info for english-speakers, and they are without a doubt the least reliable.

Still, if there is anything specific I can do to help, or if you have a question let me know. I know quite a bit about this series. You also might want to contact user Fuad Ramses over on Wikipedia. He knows just as much as I do, with more of a specialty in trivia and obscure side info. Onikage725 17:42, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

My name is Burdock and I'm a saiyan warrior. I have recently been fixing a myriad of the characters' articles, redirects, and whatnot and noticed that a number of them are still in need of desparate attention, especially that Power Level article. When I return, I shall use my full power level of "just under 10,000" to fix up the Power Level article before I do anything else. Regards - Burdock

Actually, I signed with three tildes (~~~), which produced only my name. I'm sure its acceptable, or is there a policy that says it has to be four tildes? Regards - Burdock
'Tis I, Burdock, and I need your assistance on something. I've created Template:Category redirect for a way to redirect a category to its more appropiate title. I redirected Category:AlienCategory:Extraterrestrials, but it still doesn't look as accurate as the one on Wikipedia[1]. It seems that, at the bottom of that page, those two categories have to be made before this one, but I have no idea how I'm supposed to make them. Copy/pasting them will do nothing but scatter redlinks and cause utter confusion. Whenever possible, can you help me out on this? Regards - Burdock

Category:Frieza henchmen

Hello there, it's me Burdock. Is there any way for this category to be deleted? It seems redundant to warrant a category for two reasons:

  1. "Frieza" is spelt wrong
  2. Ambiguous category since Category:Extraterrestrials pretty much covers all of the alien races, hence, Freeza's army is only comprised of fighters who are not from Earth
Is this understandable? Regards - Burdock

I was wondering, what do I have to do to become an administrator here? From what I remember on Wikipedia, an administrator could delete unecessary pages and block disruptive people, but that's all I know. I used to edit Wikipedia as an IP user and didn't bother to create an account until I discovered this Dragon Ball wikia. This wikia desparately caught my attention when I noticed that it needed a whole lot of cleanin' up. That's why I volunteered to create an account here. So, how do I run for administratorship? Regards - Burdock

Yeah, I wasn't kiddin' when I said that we really need administrators here. I can't even create this template onto this wikia here without screwin' it all up. It seems that Template:Interwikitmp-grp is required for the {{User:Burdock/Title|Burdock}} to activate. I can't help but wonder, how did User:1ne do it? Can you help me out here? It seems that you're the only one who is actually familiar with templates here on this wikia. Regards - Burdock
I'm so lost, man... - Burdock
Hey there, I left a message at User:1ne's talk page at Wikipedia about administrators needed here and how to correct those confusing templates. Hope he responds back to me here and/or just fixes those templates up, and (if he wants to) create more wikia templates because we need them, desparately. Regards - Burdock
I didn't think it'd take this long. An administrator from Wikipedia hasn't even responded to me yet, let alone 1ne. Burdock
Hi. You never got back to me on that administrator thing. I am still interested. Listen, I'm doing a major restoration of the Red Ribbon Army article at the moment since I've been busy these last couple of days. Maybe you could help me out by seeing what else should be corrected or mentioned in it. Also, can ya help me figure out this template? I feel like you're the only one on this wikia who can help me. Regards - Burdock
Wildyoda, you won't believe what just happened to me. My computer froze during my major maintenance to the Red Ribbon Army article. I lost everything. I'm really upset by this (stupid computer!!!!). Looks like I'll have to do it all over again, ... ... I'll leave it for tomorrow or somethin'. Anyways, please get back to me on that administrator thingy and template problem of mine, ok? The administrators I contacted on Wikipedia couldn't help me, maybe you can. Regards - Burdock
I think the reason some of the templates won't work is because other areas of the wiki need to be edited to fix it, which require admin rights. I'll get back to major article editing this weekend. I made some minor changes to Red Ribbon Army, but it's looking like a nice work in progress at the moment. Right now we just have to keep plugging away like we've been doing until we have an active community over here to vote in some people as admins and then we can contact the wikia staff to actually grant them. Talk to you more and more in depth this weekend (school is killing me right now- way too many GEC credit hours this semester). Wildyoda 13:33, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Hey, hey. Anything new you learned regarding the administrator thingy, or is school still a hindrance? Sorry if I'm pestering you about it too much. Regards - Burdock
Wikipedia and Wikia aren't the same things. Admins and people on Wikipedia have no control over Administration over here. For that you'd talk to any of the active admins here, and if there are none then you'd go to the Central Wikia. Sysops can delete, protect, and undelete pages and images. As well as use the rollback ability. They can also edit protected pages and pages in the MediaWiki: Namespace which control a good bit on how the wiki is displayed. Bureaucrats can promote other people to have the Sysop, and Bureucrat tags, or give someone the rollback ability without making them an admin. I was considering Adopting the wiki awhile back, but passed over cause it had a nice large userbase. If you're having admin issues I'd be happy to lend a hand in resolving them. ~Dantman-local(Dantman|local) Apr 1, 2007 @ 21:50 (UTC)
Wildyoda, can you take a gander at my talk page? I'm not really sure what to say here, but it seems Dantman is gonna try to convince the other admins on the wikia to select administrators, or "sysops" at least, for the DragonBall wikia. I wish I could understand more, it seems these things really do take time. Regards - Burdock

tats all

Tactile Telekinesis

Main article: Tactile Telekinesis I created that article because I thought that it would help explain why the characters in Dragon Ball are so powerful, like Superman. I'm really trying not to put original research in it, but it really is hard to explain it without doing so. I could only find one reference to it on an unofficial biography website that links to Superboy, Superman's clone. So, how else can I explain the technique to the Dragon Ball characters? They do seem to have such a vast ability, especially Son Goku, Piccolo, Tenshinhan (who's article sucks here), Freeza, Cell, Djinn Boo, etc. Is this understandable? - my regards, - Burdock

Are there any administrators here?--SUIT-n-tie 02:40, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

There is only one now, I think, User:Dantman. - Burdock, the Saiyan
^_^ Don't worry, I'm active so much I can take the job of over 5 administrators on a wiki even though I attend to 15 wiki at the same time. lol. ~Dantman(talk) May 9, 2007 @ 01:43 (UTC)
Are you serious?! Fifthteen? There are really that many Dantman out there? Wow, no wonder only one admin/sysops is needed here, you can do it all. Burdock, the Saiyan
lol... it just means that I'm online at Wikia so much that I can catch things before just about any other administrator could. So even if we got more I'd still end up catching most of the Vandalism and deletion requests before them. That's just a statement meaning that I'm active as much as 5 normally active people. But even over 15 Wikia there still isn't enough vandalism and deletion requests to keep me busy. ~Dantman(talk) May 10, 2007 @ 00:07 (UTC)
