The Western Desert (西の砂漠) is an area far west of the Northern Capital, and the location of one of the Destron Gas machines.[1]

This location appears in the Famicom game Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku, its OVA adaptation Dragon Ball Z: Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans, and its Playdia remake Dragon Ball Z Gaiden: Shin Saiyajin Zetsumetsu Keikaku - Chikyū-Hen.
In the Famicom game, Gohan goes to the village to get a light and then to the pyramid near the center of the map, where he fights Jiku. Enemies encountered here are Kinkarn, Ponkarn, Arbee, Gure, and Skud. In the OVA, the Destron Gas machine is protected by Jiku alone, who is defeated by Gohan.
